Before the hippo could protest, the bird said "see you later", leaving his little present behind... |
Can you spot the hippo that is laying on its back? |
 Nice belly! |
The large animal in the center is a rhino that has been named "Johnny Walker". He is the dominant male in the crater, and walks all over (since he is dominant, he has no need to protect a specific territory). |
A blow-up of Johnny Walker, at least showing that it is in fact a rhino. |
A very young wildebeest - probably the smallest we have seen. |
 A nursing zebra |
 A nursing zebra |
A resting female lion that we spotted during our drive out of the crater. The following series of pictures show her as she very quickly moved from sleeping to hunting mode. |
She hears us and rolls over to see what's up. Her one eye is just visible peeking at us through the grass. |

Wait, maybe there's something else interesting out there... |
